BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
Supervisors are elected to staggered six-year terms and are responsible for the
general governance of the township and the execution of legislative, executive
and administrative powers in order to ensure sound fiscal management and to secure
the health, safety and welfare of the township citizens. The Board of Supervisors
meets the 1st Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM. |

PLANNING COMMISSION
As per Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code, Planning Commission members
are appointed by the Board of Supervisors to serve a staggered four year term.
The Commissioners are a governing body that are required to develop and recommend
a Comprehensive Plan, Zoning Ordinance, Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance,
review and recommend approval/denial of all subdivision and land development applications,
zoning hearing applications and recommend any amendments to any of the aforementioned
ordinances to the Board of Supervisors for adoption. They hold public meetings
on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM. |

SEWER AUTHORITY
Jackson Township Sewer Authority was created in 1993 with five members who are
appointed by the Board of Supervisors to serve staggered five year terms. They
are responsible for the governance of all aspects of the operations of the Jackson
Township Wastewater Treatment System. The Sewer Authority meets the third Thursday
of each month at 7:00 PM. |

ZONING HEARING BOARD
The Zoning Hearing Board members are appointed by the Jackson Township Board
of Supervisors to serve a staggered three year term. The Board has exclusive
jurisdiction to hear and render final decisions on substantive challenges to the
validity of any land use ordinance; challenges to the validity of a land use ordinance
raising procedural questions or alleged defects in the process of enactment or
adoption; appeals from the determination of the Zoning Officer; appeals from a
determination by the Township Engineer or the Zoning Officer with reference to
the administration of any flood plain or flood hazard ordinance; and applications
for variances or special exceptions to the Zoning Ordinance. |

Zoning Hearing Board Meetings
Application for a Zoning Hearing must be submitted to the Township office by
the last Friday of the month in order to be heard on the last Monday of the following
month.
Once an application has been filed with the Township and before you attend the
Zoning Hearing, you must plan to attend the Planning Commission meeting held the
3rd Tuesday of the month. The Planning Commission is a recommending body to the
Zoning Hearing Board. |

AG SECURITY COMMITTEE
This committee is appointed by the Board of Supervisors to serve for an indefinite
term. They review requests for land to be added to the Township's Agricultural
Security areas which have been established to provide a form of protection for
farmers' rights. |

ELECTED AUDITORS
There are three elected auditor positions for persons elected for staggered six
year terms, ending in odd years. These persons perform annual audits of the Township
finances, unless the Board of Supervisors has engaged a professional Certified
Public Accountant or Accounting Firm to do those audits. If so, the elected auditors
are to meet on the Tuesday after the first Monday of January to set the compensation
rate for any Supervisor who may be employed to do work for the Township. There
are no Supervisors currently working for the Township. All three current Elected
Auditor positions are vacant. The Township currently utilizes the accounting
firm of S F and Company of York, Pennsylvania to perform its annual audit. |
